Well, we were 6 months into the pandemic and starting to get jealous of all these other people who seemed to not have kids or jobs taking up their time. Our neighbors yards became more and more beautiful, we saw delivery trucks, dumpster, and all the tell tale signs of epic remodels taking place. So with my personal growth leave I decided it was time to tell the 80's to take a hike from my kitchen! Disclaimer we had already replaced our countertops, floors, and painted the walls...so the cupboards were my target. I had two weeks and a small budget, so sanding, painting and hardware were the name of the game. I was totally sold on navy blue...after spending far too much time on Pinterest and had finally convinced my partner. I know, you are thinking..another kitchen remodel, who cares Heather? I tell you, this was the most therapeutic two weeks of 2020. My husband was working, and the boys were in daycare. So I spend 8 hours a day with music blaring, sanding, measuring, painting, cleaning. It was a magical mediation for someone who spent the whole year caring for babies and working virtually doing 6-8 hours of video meetings a day. Now that we eat pretty much every meal here, it is so nice to love this space and be reminded of the sweat equity....and the 4 doors that I still need to finish and send for glass reminds me that we are real people with real lives that get in the way. So find your mediation, no matter what it is! Be it messy and sweat; or organized and quiet. Or maybe it starts as one and becomes the other.
